Annual "Christmas in July" Picnic Raffle to benefit Hartman Station
Congratulations to our 2016 Picnic Raffle Winner!
The Annual Picnic Raffle, developed by the local volunteers of Hartman Station, benefits this area with improvements, train maintenance, the addition of running stock, and other memorabilia. Without this raffle and the efforts of our beloved devotees, Hartman Station would not be the historically-abundant exhibit that is seen by anyone frequenting Overly's. Thanks to this annual commitment, each year the visitor is greeted with a number of new surprises, be they additional rail-related artifacts, new display pieces, and so on. It truly is the gift that keeps on giving.
Hartman Station is a nostalgic highlight in Overly’s Christmas Village, stirring memories of yesteryear, of a period when things were seemingly simple compared to today's hustle and bustle: recollections of childhood trains running beneath the beloved Christmas tree, of family time shared setting up the display, of the history involved with procuring an ever-expanding exhibit, of the antiquity of each piece, and of the pride that goes along with all of this.
Hartman Station, train memorabilia and snippets of local history compliment a 24' x 46’ four-season layout and rolling stock of early steam and diesel trains. Each year, dedicated and loyal volunteers give tirelessly of their time to assure the trains are running each night of the holiday season. Their efforts ensure that amateurs, professionals and curious onlookers alike will each effortlessly gain knowledge via visual stimulation with each visit to Hartman Station.
