Frequently Asked Questions About Overly’s

What is Overly's Country Christmas®?

Overly’s Country Christmas® is not a drive-through light display, rather an unique, old-fashioned, walk-around Christmas Village, filled with traditional sights, sounds, treats and things to do reminiscent of Christmas of long-ago.  However, there is a driveway, lined with lighted displays that accesses the paved parking lot that visitors can enjoy on their way to the paved parking lot.  Visitors waiting in a traffic line are waiting for 1 of 175 parking spots in the paved lot which turns over every 1 to 1.5 hours.  Visitors not choosing to wait in the traffic line may opt for Park and Walk which is parking at their own risk in the Fairgrounds fields and paying a per person charge to enter Christmas Village.

Overly's Country Christmas® Policies

  • Alcoholic beverages and firearms are prohibited on the grounds.
  • Selfie sticks, hoverboards, skateboards, rollerblades, and like items are prohibited in Christmas Village.
  • No carry-in food or beverages.

Notices

  • Strobes are in use throughout the lights.

  • Children, ages 3 and under, riding the Kids’ Express train ride, must be accompanied by a responsible adult/guardian. 

  • Per state regulations: Adults can only ride the Kids Express Train when accompanying a child 10 and under. 

  • Children, ages 12 and under, riding the wagon, must be accompanied by a responsible adult/guardian.

  • To keep Santa healthy this season, sitting on Santa’s lap will be forbidden. Please feel free to talk to him and don’t forget to give him your letter.

    Talking with Santa is free. You may take personal photos of the experience for a $5.00 donation.

  • The Overly’s play area is designed for children, ages 2-10.  Adult supervision is required at all times.  Follow the Rules posted. Play with Care and Consideration of Others.

  • All lines may close early to ensure that everyone waiting can be accommodated

Method of Payment

  • CASH ONLY for the following: Lil D’s Funnel Cakes & Fries, Wagon Tickets, Kids Express Tickets & Santa’s Workshop Donations!
    There is a $10 minimum on any and all credit/debit card transactions at the Admission Booth, Gift Shop, Kettle Korn, Sweet Shop, & Country Kitchen!!!

ATM

There is no ATM onsite before the admission booth! The closest ATM is located at COEN Market in Norvelt is one mile past the Westmoreland Fairgrounds on Mt. Pleasant Road.

Pets/Service Animals

The Westmoreland Fairgrounds policy is No Pets Except Service Dogs.  However, at Overly’s Country Christmas®, we recognize that our pets are members of our family and as such, ask that pets be leashed, behaved, you clean up after them and use discretion around other visitors who may not be pet friendly.  And, please be sure to take extra special care with your pet around the wagon rides.

Family pets and service animals are not permitted to ride the wagon rides or the Kids’ Express Train Ride.  Family pets are not permitted in food or retail areas.

Please understand that family pets and service animals may be required to be removed from the property if it poses a threat to persons or property including unruliness, threatening and/or aggressive behavior such as barking, snarling, biting at visitors/volunteers, manger animals, horses and/or if you are unable to control your animal at all times.

Wheelchair Accessibility

Christmas Village is wheelchair accessible except for the Sweete Shop.  All areas throughout Christmas Village are paved.  The areas at the manger and the bonfire are mulched and generally can be maneuvered easily but also have paved pathways/cart paths in close proximity.

Handicap Parking

Handicap parking is available in the paved parking lot.  Those displaying handicap parking placards must wait in all traffic queues to access handicap parking areas.  

Recommended Dress

Overly’s Country Christmas® is an outdoor family event with some retail and display areas in minimally heated buildings.  The temperatures at night on the fairgrounds can be a little bitey.  We recommend dressing for the weather . . . dress warmly, in layers with proper, cold-weather footwear.  Overly’s Country Christmas® is a family event and as such, does not permit any overtly offensive behavior, language or clothing.

 

Visitor Costume Policy
Overly’s revels in the spirit of the season: we have quite a few costumed characters in
Christmas Village. In order to avoid confusion, and moreover to create a safe environment,
we request that all visitors refrain from wearing any costumes. Visitors are welcome to wear
holiday-themed attire and accessories, but costumes of any sort are prohibited on the
grounds. Anyone found to disregard this rule will be required to change into acceptable attire
or asked to leave.

 

 

Share the Magic With Those in Need

Overly’s Country Christmas® is a permanent donation site during the holiday season to help our neighbors and pets in need.  Share the Magic and help those who need it most with new, unwrapped toys, nonperishable food items, dry cat/dog food or kitty litter.  Donations can be left at the Admission Gate.

Volunteers

Overly’s Country Christmas, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization operated mainly by volunteers.  Each year 300+ volunteers willingly and tirelessly give of their time with 25 – 45 volunteers nightly manning the various areas of Christmas Village.  Be a part of continuing the tradition by visiting our volunteer webpage, emailing to overlyvolunteers@gmail.com or by giving us a call at 724-423-1400.

Parking and Waiting Times

Overly’s Country Christmas® has limited paved parking with the lot turning over every 1 to 1.5 hours, longer with milder weather.  Weekends, specifically Saturday evenings in December, waiting times to enter the paved parking area is estimated at 1 to 2 hours, longer with milder weather.

All lines may close early to ensure that everyone waiting can be accommodated.

Fairgrounds Roadways and High Volume Traffic

Weekends in December, specifically Saturday evenings, tend to be extremely busy with waiting times to enter the paved parking area and Christmas Village is estimated at 1 – 2 hours, longer with milder weather. During these high volume times, traffic is routed through the fairgrounds roadways.  These roadways are dirt roads and as such, family vehicles may get muddy.

All lines may close early to ensure that everyone waiting can be accommodated.

Field Parking and Park at Your Own Risk

During high volume times, a Park at Your Own Risk option MAY BE available to park in the fairgrounds fields, weather permitting, and enter Christmas Village with a per person charge. The Park at Your Own Risk field parking areas are accessible through lanes 3 and 5 of the serpentine traffic lane or by entering the fairgrounds through the first entrance to the fairgrounds property off the Greensburg-Mt. Pleasant Road, marked “Bus and Park & Walk Entrance Only”.Field Parking and Park At Your Own Risk is available ONLY on high volume traffic nights, typically Saturday evenings.Field parking WILL NOT be available on normal traffic nights and MAY NOT be available if circumstances on the fairgrounds property, such as snow or wet, muddy conditions make the parking area inaccessible or may result in property damage.All lines may close early to ensure that everyone waiting can be accommodated.
